i think 60 euro... this might not be the final price, but i dont think the update should cost more than that anyway.

Why all the moans? I will be delighted to add mp3 storage and playing facility to my E80. I use my keyboard in church, and find the instant access to hundreds of midi files a huge advantage. Adding mp3 files is another great leap forward as I will no longer need to use a CD player. Can't wait

The moans come from Roland, ONCE AGAIN, adding a new feature to the OS, but not fixing the broken features at the same time (or first!)... We have a forum FULL of good suggestions that players actually NEED, just to operate an arranger (remember, this is why we bought an arranger!), and Roland trot out this karaoke and break music feature, crippled compared to all it's competitor's MP3 features, while ignoring all the amazing ideas that we actually WANT... I want a working, bug and flaw-free arranger FIRST... THEN they can add the karaoke stuff

Hi Frank, You are right the E80-2 has a good new facility for those who can use it. And Diki is right too, it would be nice that Roland fixes the bugs that are in the arrangers.

Hello all I just checked some Roland and dealer sites for the new v2 upgrade availability. It looks that neither German nor Swedish sites yet offer the upgrade kit. For sure, I will order it. The question is only where from. In my country due to very small ammount of Rolands sold, there is a limited support from dealer side. Due to this reason I even purchased my E80 in Germany, not in Latvia. So, if anybody has got this upgrade kit, let me know where!

Hi Imars,
I faced the same problem to get Roland OS version-2 in my country Indonesia. I already ask to authorized Roland's dealer and seven Roland's Show Room in Jakarta , and they said never hear about that OS v-2. Next month I have plan to visit Singapore for a few days, hopefully I can get that OS v-2 from Roland's Singapore Dealer.
Regards, LAgS

AFAIK, it has not been released ANYWHERE, yet. If Sound Control TRULY have it in stock (and are not yanking your chain just to get a pre-order) they should be prepared to ship it overnight. If they start waffling, I would be VERY suspicious of their claims. SOME dealers will tell you ANYTHING, just to get your money upfront...

I was in the store asking questions about hum elimination when connecting to an amplifier, and just asked about the availability of the upgrade. The salesman, who is a Roland employee called Roland UK, and he was surprised to be informed that it was available. He thought it would come into the store this week. I will report as soon as I have news. Frank

A couple of weeks ago I enquired from my local Roland dealer[who is also a personal friend]what the latest was regarding the E80 v2 update."I have one installed in the shop" he explained but Roland have supplied it to take to a music festival to demonstrate it.The festival lasted one week.On his return I asked him if it was now available."It will be a few more weeks before they release it because for some reason[please don`t ask me]it deleted the Music Assistant Data Base.He also thinks it will cost about £40 sterling.

Ahhh, yes. Roland Marketing once again trying to rush out something that Development haven't even got finished yet. Caveat emptor... (and back up EVERYTHING religiously before you install this, even if they tell you it IS OK )

My story has come to an end for now. I ordered in good faith from Sound Control after the local Roland man phoned the head office to enquire about version 2. Instead of version 2, the 1-06 upgrade was delivered to the shop. Then Sound Control went into receivership, and I had a letter stating that I am now on the list of creditors. I suppose it could be worse. I parted with £20, which is probably the cost of 1.06 on a disc.

HI ALL, I received the version 2 upgrade for the E 80 from Roland 4 days after ordering.
Installed and works as advertised. I can now play MP3 files in my E 80.
I can now rip the files off of CD's, convert them to mp3, transfer them via the usb into the E 80 and play them there. I can play my own MP3 files and any of the hundreds that list members have sent to me. I can transfer them via usb into the internal memory or into the memory card.
Isn’t that grand?
I also got the 15 new GOLD STYLES and they are really terrific.
This was 29.95 USD well spent.
I am super pleased, Bebop
