I was under the impression that Roland's arranger design (and therefore any updates) was still under the banner of Roland Italy...
Therefore, one wouldn't expect the tsunami to have quite the impact it might have if these things were designed in Japan.

euh, anthony 4-4-2012 ?? it's just a few days old don't think there will be a next update or it should be a V2.0 .... that's meaning a new OS with new hardware use like micro editor and sequencer(see gw8 update v2.0) but no hope for that More thinking to a new flagship workstation-arranger and later on a module version from that one i suggest Roland: a Jupiter-50/bk-7m mix with insert vocal harmonizer(vp-7),ipad style thouch screen include sonar software ect.....a -BK76- JAMMIEEEE

or it should be a V2.0 .... that's meaning a new OS with new hardware use like micro editor and sequencer(see gw8 update v2.0)
This would be a great update. But if it would be for free? Sounds more like a new BK-8m..... Perhaps the connection (via USB) to an iPad could be added in V2 to have a larger display and easier sound selection and navigation with touchscreen (like they made with Jupiter-80 V2). Would transform the inconvenient "rotary data dial module" to an easy-to-navigate product. More thinking to a new flagship workstation-arranger and later on a module version from that one i suggest Roland: a Jupiter-50/bk-7m mix with insert vocal harmonizer(vp-7),ipad style thouch screen include sonar software ect.....a -BK76-
Perfect idea. I would purchase one. But I think it will not come.... and so I have to continue with my BK-7m.... But hope never dies. Perhaps we will see a miracle in the future ;-) Best regards Gerd

Hi,
the connection is not the problem. The App to control the BK is the problem. Do you have an App to select sounds and styles via the iPad?
Some years ago I wrote a software to control a sound module (selection of styles and tones, etc.). But I am not familiar with the programming of Apps for the iPad. And a notebook is not really small. And a touchpad is not a touchscreen..... therefore I did not develop a controller for the BK. I want a small equipment on stage. An iPad to control the BK 2"live" would be cool.....
Regards Gerd

BK-7m - How To Update A) System Update By USB 1. Power Off. 2. Unzip the version zip file to a temporary folder. 3. Copy all the Update files contained in the unzipped folder in the root of a USB Memory. 4. Put the USB Memory on the instrument. 5. Press and Hold the [WRITE] Switch. 6. Power On. 7. After a While, the LCD will show the Update page. 8. Release the [WRITE] Switch. 9. Wait for the “SUCCESS” message. 10.Power Off. 11.Reboot.

It could be so very handy when people use the forum search option. This subject was there already a few times, including the original info: Explaining all you need to do and what it does and how to realise it. E.g. http://roland-arranger.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=38&topic=1747.0

You can ask your questions, ofcourse we are willing to help. But try to be as clear as possible what the questions are...
Download whole the BK7m_V106.zip archive and unpack (unzip) it on the PC. That will give you 6 files. These files have to be copied onto a USB-stick (without a folder).
Copying files into the root = Copy the files directly on the top directory of the device (here: USB-stick), thus not in a folder.
