You cannot (AFAIK) embed lyrics into a .WAV file.

MP3's with standard SYLT lyrics tags should display OK on BK's, and all SMF's with lyrics (a lot of the Tune1000 files have lyrics in them) display OK.

Remember, the BK7m's display does NOT show lyrics, only an attached TV (LCD) will, or the iPad Lyric Viewer app (via USB).

Not sure what to recommend for embedding lyrics in an MP3 or SMF on a PC (I think many use VanBasco), on a Mac, I use QMIDI to put lyrics into an SMF or MP3 that doesn't already have them.

Hi Diki,

thanks first of all for the fast reply :-). Cooool ! I will give your hints a try ;-). MP3 is great 4 me. Just woundering because on Rolands Homepage it is written, that the BK7m supports lyrics in Video also for WAV. Maybe it is just an error on their page - who needs WAV anyway ;-).

Step us through this...

You put the LRC file in the same My Recordings folder as the MP3's (do you have to name it exactly the same?) and the display shows lyrics and chords?

I've looked through the BK-7m documentation, I didn't see any mention of LRC files.

Hehe yes that’s the whole trick: I generated an LRC file (there’s really plenty of online generators available). Just gave it the exact same name as the MP3 or wave file and put it on an USB stick. Just start the mo3 from the stick and the monitors shows lyrics in sync with the mp3. I also putted the chords in the text with {} because I hate the chords on the bottom ( they come to late).

Text looks like that in the (online generated) LRC file

[01:25.14] Text Text Text {Cm7} Lyrics Lyrics Lyrics

The generating process is easy done online: Generator plays song and you click line by line in sync and save. That’s it.

I use that one: www.megalobiz.com/lrc/maker

All the best

I use GNMIDI to enter Lyrics and chords in MP3's and SMF's.... using a PC.

I have been using programs to embed the lyrics in the actual MP3. This way, it doesn't matter if the file is played on something that does sync LRC files or doesn't, and it gives me only one file to keep track of.

I can see how this could come in handy, but honestly, I don't see how embedding the data isn't the better way.

I like to add things like song structure ('SOLO 16 BARS' etc.) and key/artist to my lyrics, on the assumption that it might be a while since I last played a song!

But again, if I was relying on chords and lyrics and charts for the bulk of my show and used style mode much, I think I would go the iPad/tablet route with a program like OnSong. Roland (AFAIK) is the last arranger maker to refuse to provide any way to display lyrics while you use arranger mode. While MP3 and SMF lyrics are all well and good, it seems a shame to not be able to display lyrics and chords in the very mode the instrument is designed for...

Mind you, if you have an E-A7, it isn't quite as good. A 100 entry Performance List isn't nearly as useful as a 999 entry one, when the iPad/tablet calls up the Performance for each song. If I had an E-A7, I would be complaining noisily to Roland until they change this...
